Homemade Soap Bottle

Adding simple and colorful homemade items to your house is a great way to decorate the home you might have always wanted- inviting and friendly. Here's one of those effortless items you can add to your home; you can even choose the exact color you might want to go with it! The craft is simple: homemade soap bottles. All you will need is an Atlas Mason jar with a two piece screw-on lid (the type where there's a circle piece that fits on the tips of the Mason jar and a screw-on piece that goes over the circle piece), your choice color paint (you will be painting the Mason jar lid), paint brush, old magazines or newspapers (so paint doesn't get on the tabletop or whatever you are working on), hammer, nail, scissors (you might not need scissors, but you might want to have them just in case) and a soap bottle top. Now just follow the steps to make your soap bottle:

1. Lay down the old magazines or newspapers on your crafting surface. Paint the circle piece and the screw-on piece of the lid with the color you desire on top of the old newspapers or magazines.

2. Let the paint dry; put both pieces of the lid on the Mason jar and use the hammer to nail a hole big enough for the soap bottle top to fit through in the middle of the lid. While you are nailing a hole big enough, you might need the scissors to pull back some of the metal that is only attached by the edge of of the hole you are making. This is hard to explain, so you might want to use the picture below.
Nailing a hole                  Using scissors to bend the metal
down from the hole made with the nail

3. Place the soap bottle top through the hole, hot-gluing it to the Mason jar lid.

4. Unscrew the lid from the jar and fill the jar with hand soap. For extra decorations, you could put a ribbon around the lid when you screw it back on. Now you have completed your Homemade soap bottle!
